Amazon.com Product Description
Pioneer's TS-A6882R 6-by-8-inch four-ways deliver power handling of 280 watts max. (50 watts nominal). Pioneer continues to set an example with next-generation technology for improved sound: the tweeter, magnets, surrounds, the voice coil wire, the basket and more are all high-performance components that make up a great speaker.

Pioneer's A-Series Speakers

Pioneer A-series speakers outperform factory speakers on nearly every level. Packing a powerful punch, A-Series speakers are equipped with up to three independent tweeters with reinforced woofers, so every beat is heard and felt. Featuring a bigger, better cone than most OEM speakers, the A-series boasts serious output and booming bass. Extra-sensitive tweeters play at higher frequencies and are capable of handling stronger audio signals, resulting in vocals that are crisp and clear, even when you crank the volume.

TS-A6882R Features

Composite IMPP Cone with Interlaced Aramid Fiber
With long aramid fibers interlacing together inside, this IMPP cone design provides the strength and rigidity that powerful bass sound requires. High-density compressed internal architecture is resilient, stacks up against high power well and transfers sound quickly. The result is full-bodied, rich sound character with midrange depth that conventional IMPP cones cannot match.

Butyl Rubber Surrounds
Durable butyl rubber speaker surrounds won't fall apart under the stress of extreme temperatures, sunlight or time, and help Pioneer's woofers deliver serious bass.

Power Handling
The TS-A6882R now handles a full 280 watts max. power (50 watts nominal). Along with enhanced power handling, you still get the same high performance that all the TS-A's deliver.

6" x 8" Perfect Fit Speakers
There are a few things in life we'll never understand. Like why do stereo companies keep trying to force people to put 5" x 7" speakers in 6" x 8" holes? It doesn't look or sound right. That's why Pioneer researched exactly what dimension speakers would work best with what cars. If it doesn't fit perfect, it's not gonna sound perfect.

5 out of 5 stars wow sound   July 29, 2008

I installed these speakers in my 2004 Ford Ranger, and the sound was outstanding. After I installed them I sat in the truck and listened and was totally amazed at the sound coming from them. I felt like I was in a live concert, each instrument was clear and the bass coming from them was beyond what I could describe. I left the factory radio in, which is the six cd changer that plays mp3 disc. I thought maybe I would change it also, but after listening with these speakers I think I will just leave it in. I had to decrease the bass and treble because the speakers are so efficient. And also I had to turn the volume down. I also put the 3 way Pioneer speakers in the rear. But the 4 way gave the wow sound. Try them and you will not be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Great speakers!   September 21, 2008

I bought these speakers for use in my Mazda Protege 2000 front doors, for which these speakers are designed. They were replacing some old generic speakers I had installed a few years ago which had kicked the bucket. I had these installed with the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X592 CD receiver radio system, and what a difference! These speakers sound great combined with this radio (or similar); just make sure that the radio you buy can keep up with the power output of the speakers for maximum enjoyment!

4 out of 5 stars Clear, Crisp sound.   February 6, 2010

Pros- Louder, 60w constant wattage meaning my JVC stereo doesn't have enough wattage to blow em out (thats good). Perfect fit for my 02 Ford Ranger. Very clean, crisp sound. If it's not, then your input is bad, because these speakers are like you are there with the band. They don't look too gaudy either, I can see a little shine from behind my stock door panel, it looks cool!

Cons- Bass isn't that great, but hey, these are 4-way speakers. If you want bass speakers get 2 ways.

Last thoughts- I'd buy it again! They were reasonably priced, and a direct fit to my old speakers.

5 out of 5 stars Great 4-way 6" x 8" rear shelf speakers   October 23, 2009

I bought these speakers to replace stock one's in the back rear shelf of a car. The stock ones that they replaced were smaller and this was the largest size that I could upgrade to. They are great sounding and were a decent price, especially for the 4-way feature they have, you get the high's, low's and deep sub-woofer sounds, as they are supposed to be. They are a pair, bye the way, you will get two speakers here, just so that you know.

5 out of 5 stars Better than stock ford explorer 2000 speakers   October 14, 2009

I enjoy good sound. I have nice Shure in-ear headphones, decent klipsch bookshelf speakers for my home theater, and have learned how to tell the difference if an MP3 is encoded in a bitrate lower than V0 VBR. Point is, I've been rolling around with a stock head unit and speakers in my explorer for the last 3 years. Why? Laziness, fear of destroying the car, etc. Turns out, the interior panels are really easy to take off. I didn't want to replace the head unit yet because a.) i just wanted to try my hand at car audio and see what i could do. If i screwed it up, no big deal, my old speakers weren't even bad, people think they are much nicer than stock to begin with. Keep in mind these do not come with the "harnesses" that match up to the piece of plastic the stock speakers use. I suppose you could pay for these things, I just stripped the wire down behind where the male end of the harness lives in the door, and crimped in the wire that came with the speakers, wrapped some nice new and sticky electrical tape around it, and was good to go. door panels back on and enjoying the music. Tools required? philips, flathead (to pry door handle piece off), wood chisel (to pry entire door panel off), good grip, and a strong stomach (the sound of the plastic slugs ripping outta their slots the first time is scary scary. Lastly, you'll need wire cutters/strippers if you do it my way, and a vice grip needlenose pliers to undo some of the screws holding down the speaker (might be real tight, those pliers loosen em right up).

ok, the part most people will care about without explorers. The sound quality... it's actually really nice, like everyone else said. It's not mind blowing, but its quite clear, and I couldn't hear any distortion, despite cranking it louder than I would ever listen. Keep in mind i kept my stock head unit. Would they sound better with a aftermarket one? i'm sure, would I notice or want to spend the money to make my car look tacky with bright blue and red LEDS that don't match anything. nah. bottom line is they sound about 50 bucks better than the old speakers. mids are clearer, bass is much much tighter (it used to "roll" a lot, like you couldn't separate out kick drum from basslines, and was too boomy. these have a lot of punch but are accurate, not overdone). highs are also quite "present" to use a audio nerd word. aka, its not piercing. i did listening tests on everything from John Mayer's live material to Coheed, Ratatat, Al Green, and Death Cab for Cutie. Wide range, all sounded great. I had a great experience. It was pretty fun too.

Only other thing i'd recommend is if you cut into your wires, find out which are pos and neg. I hit up a local auto shop and they looked it up for me on a site called Directech? good luck and enjoy!
